Straight Seven
May 6, 2007 10:09 pmToday was my seventh straight day of getting in some type of bike ride. On Monday and Friday I went on a ride with Ann, for 42 and 50 miles. Tuesday I did Metcalf Mauler for 20 miles. Wednesday and Thursday I climbed Henrey Coe for 30 miles each. Saturday was a 85 mile Long Distance Training ride and today I logged 92 miles, climbing Henry Coe for the 3rd time in 7 days. So if I can still do the math in my head it comes in around 350 miles. Okay, I used a calculator.
Hey, if I include the Devil Mountain Double I did 8 days ago, that comes to 555 miles in 9 days. I wonder if that is a new record for me. During those same 9 days, I must have climbed about 40,000 feet. Maybe that is another new record. It doesn’t take much thought to make a new record of just about anything, I just have to be creative enough. For example, today was the longest ride I ever did on May 6th, in the year 2007.
The hard thing was not the miles, or all the climbing, but it was the wind. Yesterday it was very strong and the 30 miles at the end, back to San Jose, was terrible, even though I was drafting behind a tandem most all the way. I was really worn out. Today was not as bad and I feel in good shape.
Tomorrow Ann and I are going on another bike ride, maybe about 35 miles. I am not sure after that so you will have to read my blog to find out.
